Wells:

Water and waste water organization of Mashhad was established in the half of 1370 in order to give better services to the inhabitants of Mashhad and the pilgrims of Imam Reza. At the beginning it had 230000 subscribers for drinking water distribution services but it had no part of Mashhad under its sewage services. Now at its twenty-fifth establishment annual, this organization has about 550000 subscribers in water division and 640000 subscribers in sewage division.
 

Water and waste water organization of Mashhad had on the average 22% progress in water distribution section. And in the water production section, it has doubled its ability in acquisition of surface waters by starting a new water refinery in 1380. This has helped a great deal in giving services in the time of maximum consumption (in Mordad). Also the total number of the wells in use has increased 41% compared to the time of establishment. And this is when there have been as many wells in use as there have been wells dug or dislocated that unfortunately a number of these old wells have been put out of use because of pollution, water surface decline and etc.
